Columbia Road A
Liberty Fabrics’ From London With Love collection for Spring Summer 2020 is inspired by eight epic love stories that have played out throughout our city across the generations. Muses of the season include creative London couples spanning from royals to artists, students and poets, exploring the way they met, the gifts they gave, the places they studied and the artworks they created for one another. The collection offers a journey though the people, places and spaces of London – a letter of love from Liberty, to the city that will always have our heart.
Columbia Road: Originally created in the late 1890’s and printed at Liberty’s Merton print-works during the 1910’s. The rhythmic floral trail reflects elements from the Art Nouveau movement, flowers include narcissi, carnations and peonies. It was revived in the 1960’s and printed on silk for the 1995 range, also appearing on the cover of the book ‘A Taste for Design’ by our archivist Anna Buruma.
Please note: We tear our Liberty to achieve a line that follows the grain of the fabric - fabric edges may reflect this process.
