Liberty LOVE Around the World Sew-Along!

Starting on the 7th of August 2021 – book your boarding pass now!
*You can join in at any time*

We are hosting an Instagram Sew-along for our NEW trip around the block/world style quilt, Liberty Love Around the World. We thought it would be a wonderful way to connect and ‘travel’ around with all of our friends and customers, given the current situation with lockdowns around the world meaning we can’t actually travel.

It has been designed with our Liberty Club members in mind, although anyone who purchases the pattern is welcome to Sew-Along with us. This quilt can be made using our Liberty Fat 16th Bundles, with a few little add ons for dividing blocks and centres.

The Sew-along will run for 12 months – making use of the 12 x club bundles that will be released in that time.
Of course you are welcome to join the SAL any time – this is just the timeframe in which we will be completing our quilts (hopefully!).
The quilt will end up being a large throw size – approximately 55″ x 73″.

This is a digital mock up of the layout and colours you can expect to see coming together as you construct your quilt. The beautiful rainbow palette in the design is based on 12 months worth of Love Liberty Club bundles.

To achieve a similar look we recommend using Betsy A for the diagonal lines and the Marie Rose Solid as your centres – Robyn has selected these as they co-ordinate nicely with each upcoming club, and the colours of these fabrics will tie all of the blocks together throughout the quilt. (We have listed these fabrics and the amounts needed on the starter kit pages!)

Robyn will be hand piecing her blocks and Jen will be using English Paper Piecing to sew along each month as well! We will provide video tutorials for both methods as part of our Sew-Along Travel Lodge that you can access when you purchase the Boarding Pass.

Each month Robyn and Jen will show you their individual block layouts using the Love Liberty Club fabrics – of course we will never reveal this too early as we don’t want to spoil the monthly fabric surprise for you. You can also supplement with fabric from your stash, purchase extra bundles, use your past club bundles – or upgrade your subscriptions to fat 8ths if you want to work twice as quickly!

Are you ready to come on this journey with us?
The first Step is to pick up your boarding pass… this will give you the quilt pattern, plus access to the Travel Lodge (member home page!) on our website. The Travel Lodge will be a one stop shop for all Sew-Along tutorials, tips and tricks, recommended tools and products, colouring sheets and more.

      Hi
I’m hand piecing the Love Around the World SAL and have just about completed three blocks from my fat 1/16th subscription from February, March and April, 2021.
I was wondering if Robyn could give some tips on ironing these blocks. I’m not sure whether to iron to one side or open seams or a combination of both. Usually I’d iron to one side but because the seams are greater than 1/4 inch I’m not exactly sure which way to go.
      Looking forward to your reply.
      Regards
      Sharon Norquay

        Hi Sharon
I prefer to iron each strip before I stitch them together as this makes it easier to iron at the end. These little squares can be tricky!!
Because it is Liberty Lawn I don’t worry about which way the seams lay as the fabric is so fine it does not cause much bulk.
        I hope this was helpful?

Hi there, just wondering if you share your blocks each month? If so, where would I find them please?

    3. Denise Pringle

      Hello
I finally have my framing fabric (thankyou Robyn for helping me choose). But I can seem to neatly add it on to my first four hand pieced blocks!
Is there a tutorial I have missed?

      Thankyou
      Denise

        Hi Denise
What method are you using to stitch the blocks together? If you have purchased your boarding pass you will have access to all the video tutorials on the Travelodge for both EPP and hand stitching.
It would be just adding one block at a time to the end of the row.
Please feel free to give us a call if you require any further assistance, we are always happy to help.
        Have a beautiful day

After my blocks are complete I spritzed a little best press and my solid centers kind of wrinkled up if that makes any sense. Liberty aolids are very thin. Is that why?

      1. Warehouse

        Hi Maryanne
        Thank you for your comment.
Liberty solids are the exact same weight as the prints so should not make any difference at all.
        I hope this was helpful?
