Introducing the Felicite Quilt

A new pattern by Robyn Shapiro

Robyn’s latest quilt pattern comes together quickly using your sewing machine, but the hand stitched element of the appliqué border gives it a sweet personal touch! It’s a perfect project for someone just starting their quilting journey.

For this happy little baby quilt I wanted to create a playful pattern out of simple, easy to sew shapes against a solid background. The design makes use of both our 5” and 2.5” pre-cut charm squares to make the preparation as quick and easy as possible – just pick the colour palette of charm squares you want to use, and a solid to match, and away you go!

The colours I have chosen for my version were inspired by the beautiful vibrant colours found in vintage children’s quilts. The mix of yellow triangles and squares in various shades remind me of twinkling stars, joining together to create a lattice across the quilt.

    Finished size: Approx 125cm x 125cm

Thank you to Melissa @ablemissdesigns who enthusiastically (and quickly!) pattern tested this quilt for us!

“I chose to do the appliqué on each individual block prior to assembly so that I didn’t have to wrangle the whole quilt top.
I think it was so quick due to the pre-cuts! It made it very easy to get straight into once I’d sorted through the colours and tones. I can easily visualise this pattern working well on a larger queen size bed scale…

Melissa used a mix of both our Blue and Teal Charm Squares on a Wild Rose background, finishing it off with beautiful Strawberries and Cream A Bias Binding and a beautiful dark blue Emma and Georgina backing. We love the way Melissa has radiated from dark to light tones across her quilt, the effect is quite stunning!
