Just have your usual EPP supplies on hand, then all you need to add is a little bit of stuffing. Making this sweet little pincushion really is the perfect way to use up your spare Liberty hexies! We’ve used 1″ hexies, but the project works with any size hexie!

    YOU WILL NEED:

    • 8 x Hexagon Papers
    • 8 x Liberty Hexies
    • Fabric glue for basting
    • Milliner’s Needle
    • Co-ordinating thread
    • Scissors
    • Pin cushion filling (polyester filling or similar)

    CREATE A HEXAGON FLOWER

    • Baste fabric hexagons to hexagon papers
    • Arrange seven hexagons to create a hexie flower
    • Whip stitch the hexagons together

    COMPLETE THE PIN CUSHION

    • Fold each hexagon petal in half toward the centre, with right sides facing
    • Work around the flower to stitch the aligning edges together. This will require folding the papers in surrounding hexagons to allow you to align edges
    • Place the eighth hexagon into the centre opening and use a whip stitch to join five edges, leaving one edge open for turning later
    • Remove papers and turn your pin cushion right side facing out
    • Insert filling and stitch the opening closed using a ladder stitch
    Your pin cushion is complete!!
